Stainless Steel Parts and Components

You can find stainless steel parts in all sorts of products around you. Stainless steel is a very durable metal, which makes it challenging to machine precision parts.

Spex uses high-quality CNC machines and cutting tools to manufacture high quantities of precision stainless steel parts and components. We are an industry-leading machine shop and help our customers fulfill their part needs.

Benefits of stainless steel

Stainless steel is a widely used material worldwide and it’s incredibly versatile. Stainless steel is used in a wide variety of industries, including: Fluid and Air Handling, Measurement, Instrumentation, Appliance, Electrical, Automotive, and Aerospace. It’s commonly used where strength and corrosion resistance is necessary.

Stainless steel is more expensive and more costly to machine, but the lifetime of the parts are greater than most other metals. Stainless steel also offers a great strength-to-weight ratio, making it ideal for smaller or more intricate parts that need extra durability.

Stainless steel parts require very little maintenance and can withstand various temperatures and harsh environments.

Machining stainless steel parts

The different stainless steel alloys and the characteristics of this metal make it one of the most used materials for CNC machining projects. Swiss screw machining and CNC machining are used to produce precision machined stainless steel parts quickly and efficiently.

Spex machines thousands of custom stainless steel parts, including:

  • Fittings
  • Adapters
  • Connectors
  • Pipe Fittings
  • Stems
  • Valve Components
  • Pins
  • Manifolds
  • Sleeves
  • Nuts
  • Bolts
  • Screws

Grades of stainless steel

Like most metals, there are various grades or alloys of stainless steel that each have slightly different properties. To be considered stainless steel, it must contain at least 10.5% Chromium, which gives the metal better corrosion resistance. Carbon, Nickel, and other trace metals are added to increase the metal’s properties.

Common grades of stainless steel include: 303, 304, 316, and 316L.
