Common Copper Grades Chart

Common Copper Grades Chart

Copper is one of the best and most commonly used materials for precision machined parts.

Like most materials, there are different copper alloys, each with slightly different compositions and use cases. Not every copper alloy is suitable for precision machined parts. For example, pure copper is flexible and used for wiring, but not strong enough to use for machined parts.

The majority of precision copper parts are made from a few different alloys.

Spex typically uses 5 different copper alloys to machine precision parts for a wide variety of industries. The most common type of copper alloy is called beryllium copper. Adding beryllium increases the strength and durability, while maintaining the benefits of copper. The versatility, corrosion resistance, and conductivity of copper make it an excellent choice for CNC machined parts

This chart gives you a brief overview of the most common copper alloys, their costs, and common uses for each.
